NWGA Plant Swap!

Hey Gang!

On July 18th the NWGA Plant Swap was held!  It is our largest annual event and
it is a member and community favorite. It was started as part of the Awbury Community
Garden Club event but it and other events migrated with the start of the Northwest Garden
Association. Gardeners from all over Philadelphia and it suburbs attend the swap! If you
are interested in attending, please email me at leoatawbury@hotmail.com!

The Plant Swap is a plant for plant swap with garden related items (i.e tools, books
seeds, pictures and ornaments) included.  The average attendee brings 35 items!
There are also donations from local garden centers and plant nurseries.
There is also food, fun and good conversation.

It is held at Cathedral Village in their Chapel Room.  It has been held there for
the last 5 years.  It started at the Awbury Cope House and was there for at least 7 years.
It moved briefly to a community center for one year and the to Cathedral
Village. The average attendee has been coming for over 7 years!

Here of some pictures I took while setting up!  Everyone looks around at the plants
and plans before the swapping starts!

One attendee, Eric, was nice enough to bring me flowers!

I think they were from his garden!
There is also a raffle at the swap!
Here are two of the winners!

My next gardening event is PHS Gardening Contest Judging!

Flower Arranging

Hey Gang!

If you are looking for ideals on flower arranging and would
like to see a few videos on it, Whole Foods Flower Chef.  I wasn't
familiar with the term "chef" in the way of flowers.  I guess it is a person
who know a lot about flowers.  I didn't see anything about her formal education.
You can see a few of their videos on YouTube.  Here is one!

Since they use local flowers, the flowers that they show should be
available where you are! The flower bouquets that they use look
pretty large.  I am going to check them out.  Most of my flowers
sources have small bouquets.

They also have a blog!  I search for post just on flowers and there were
a few.
